Nothing Stable Under Heaven;
a showcase of Black Art

gets its title from a quote by James Baldwin:

“A society must assume that it is stable, but the artist must know, and he must let us know, that there is nothing stable under heaven.” *

This exciting group exhibit pulls together a beautiful variety of artwork from Black artists residing in four states (Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and Vermont). The front room of the Oxbow Gallery will display sculpture, paintings, photographs, prints, poetry and book art created by featured artists:

Andrew “Moon” Bain
Bobby Brown
Mars Champagne
John Hughes
Simone Johnson
Gloria Matlock
Beatrice Mitchell
Emily Roman

This gifted group of interdisciplinary artists have an age range that spans eight decades.
